AKAI APC40 MIDI Controller has a great look and feel but has one problem that most audio/MIDI controllers have. The problem is where the user presses the USB type-B plug too hard into the controller and over time, it breaks. some controller makes it hard for the USB to be plugged in and makes the user press harder.
The replacement of the USB type-B port did not take too long but could have been worse. The design of the controller places 3 capacitors/resistors directly behind the USB plug. These capacitors/resistors could have been ripped off the PCB, damaging the PCB tracks and components. After inspections, its looked lie it came close but no damage was visible. After the USB connector was changed, the controller was back up and running.
