Need Help with fixing your device?
https://fixmystuff.info/
For years now, I have been getting requests to help with repairs of equipment, in particular about the Novation Launchpads. I do try and help where I can but I want to share the information and experience that I am giving out. I have come to the conclusion that I need to make a platform where you can submit your problems and repairs. The platform is Fix My Stuff and is currently under development. Check it out and sign up to get notified when it will become live. If you’re a web developer/designer, please help or review the platform. Any problems email me at tinkersprojects@gmail.com.
AKAI APC40 MIDI Controller has a great look and feel but has one problem that most audio/MIDI controllers have. The problem is where the user presses the USB type-B plug too hard into the controller and over time, it breaks. some controller makes it hard for the USB to be plugged in and makes the user press harder.
The replacement of the USB type-B port did not take too long but could have been worse. The design of the controller places 3 capacitors/resistors directly behind the USB plug. These capacitors/resistors could have been ripped off the PCB, damaging the PCB tracks and components. After inspections, its looked lie it came close but no damage was visible. After the USB connector was changed, the controller was back up and running.
